April in a nutshell, or uh— an Easter Egg!
This month has gone incredibly fast, but also very slow (in a good way!)
To begin, this April I was set to have 3 events (4 if you count the 30th of May Art Crawl), and I want to show off what the month had to offer!
But Eric, April isn’t OVER YET why are you writing up a blog already?! Hush hush, I’ll get to that near the end of the post >:) You’d better make it there!
Streamliners Art Crawl, May 20th
To end May and kickoff April, AllsCherry hosted another one of our Art Crawls with the wonderful (and tasty) Streamliners Espresso Bar in St. Thomas! thank you again for having us!
We had the pleasure of bringing along…
Scott Wojcik of CBTM
Megan McKiernan and Robbie
Emilia Haag (Who is joining us for the Anthology this year!)
and my Mom of StitchBerry Creations (crochet!)
It was a blast as always, we made some friends, some sales, and learned more lessons which is always important. This was a good end of the month, and got us into work mode for April.
A bonus! I did up my first ever sketch cover, depicting a page in CBTM Issue #1, thanks Scott haha.
Stratford Pop Culture Con, April 5th!
This was my first ever Pop Culture Canada show, and it did not disappoint!
Megan McKiernan and I were table buddies in Stratford at the Arden Park BW and it was a blast. The venue was packed, and I had the pleasure of meeting some amazing people, one of which being LOONETTE THE FREAKIN CLOWN
I had drawn up a portrait as a gift simply to say thank you for the fun childhood the show brought me, some fond memories with that show playing! Lately, I’ve been trying to break out of my comfort zone with networking, as well as illustrating on the fly. I am an artist who really likes to create sequential art, and very thought out stories. I would like to expand my repertoire with one of drawings, portraits, and just fun sketches (hence the portrait, alongside the CBTM sketch cover).
Hop on In Easter Market, April 13th!
Just outside of St. Thomas in Union Ontario, we Hopped on over to the Easter Market held by a friend of ours. Joining us was my mom and her crochet, as well as Megan and Robbie (but they were inside, we were out in the warm sunshine haha)
I love these little markets. They may not be as crowded as a comic con, but they sure are homey.
And how could we forget, at these lil’ market, I get to see Wendy’s Biggest Fan! She gave me the opportunity o practice more of my “just for fun sketching”
CKExpo and the BIG NEWS - New Comics and PREORDERS!
That’s right, preorders are officially available… RIGHT NOW!
The Flooded Planet, Overflow: Book 2!
To begin, Overflow is just in its final stage of production. I was hoping to have it ready to go for CK but, I don’t want to rush this book, as I am ver very proof it and don’t want to lose that pride just because I rushed it. So, I have preorders open!
Preorders available online and at CKExpo for regular price
Preorder Poster exclusive only 25 available at CKExpo
Preorder bundle with Book 1, only available at CKExpo!
Sounds like YOU are going to have to come to CKExpo, as if you weren’t going to haha!
Monster of the Abyss
Secondly, a book Scott and I have been cooking up for a couple of months now is also in its final stages. I worked on all of the art for this, Scott wrote, and for the final product Andrew Thomas will be our letterer. So then, what’s the book in the photo? An Ashcan!
What the hell is an ashcan? A FREE lil’ taste of what the book has to offer. Only 4 pages sure, but 4 pages of suspense, and you’re going to want to preorder our book to get the rest!
Preorders available online and at CKExpo for regular price
Preorder Poster exclusive only 25 available at CKExpo
Again, we better see you at CK or you’ll lose out on some exclusive stuff!
As a closing thingy, I’m attaching some sketches and finished works to show off what I’ve been up to (a lot, phew!) I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter, and thank you for reading my blog. I like doing up these MUCH more than scrounging photos together with a simple catchy description.
I like showing off my experiences and art, then explaining it! Much more fun than a double tap, don’t you think?
If any of my work interests you, most is available online, as well as in person at my booth. Take care!
ACTUALLY! One last thing - Tingfest London
If you happen to be in London, ON and have the opportunity to check out a gallery, head to TAP on Dundas & Richmond, for their Ting Exhibition - Comic and Graphic Arts Festival!!!
I had the absolute pleasure of meeting some new people, and some familiar faces too! One person in particular who really enlightened me was Emmanuelle. Sorry I bugged you for so long, (I’m a talker if you can’t tell). You gave me a ton of insight and interesting ideas for practicing my brush work, and I thank you for that!
There’s some amazing artists at this show, and it’s going until May 11th, so go take a gander! Now >:)
Ok now bye everyone, and I’ll see you at CKExpo this weekend!
